  1. This is a prerelease version of xvgopher 1.0
  2. I make these executables available to get feedback on the interface.
  3. The sources are not ready for release, yet; I am still working on it.
  4.  
  5. Known problems with this prerelease are:
  6.  
  7.     - No bookmarks!  This is next on the list of things to fix.
  8.     - The cut and paste in the action preferences do not work.
  9.     - The directory filter doesn't filter on dates or types, yet.
  10.  
  11. There are two statically linked executables for the SunOS 4.X environment.
  12.  
  13.     - xvgopher.static.NIS
  14.       This one is linked with the standard Sun NIS library.  Use this if
  15.       you do not have a /etc/resolv.conf
  16.     - xvgopher.static.resolver
  17.       This one is linked with libresolv.a.  Use this if you DO have
  18.       /etc/resolv.conf
  19.  
  20. Both programs will try to contact a local host named 'gopher' at port 70.
  21. You can change this on the command line.
